AOK Flatbread Panini Shop (CLOSED)

This takeout joint, tucked in a tiny Edgewater storefront, is a conundrum: The panini aren’t really panini (they’re more like wheat pita wraps), the shop stays open till 3am Thursday–Sunday, and the menu ranges from breakfast sandwiches to wings to Lavazza coffee. But what’s most unfathomable are the prices: For $4.50, you get one panini/pita, delicious and chock-full of veggies and flavorful meat, plus chips and a can of soda. How this place makes any money is beyond us, but in a just world, the owner is rewarded by Loyola students (who get $1 off with a university ID) hitting up AOK instead of the nearby Subway.
