Donna's Cafe (CLOSED)

Donna Adams is a veteran of the Chicago Police Department, but there’s nothing very tough about her cute, lime-green South Loop café. The soups, salads and sandwiches available are listed in chalk along one wall—go for the vegetable-stuffed garden panini over the too-sweet turkey with cranberry mayo, and supplement it with the “Sweet & Lovely” salad with crunchy jicama. Finish your meal by lingering over a brownie (courtesy of Lovely Bakery) and a cup of coffee, all of which can be done to the jazz soundtrack Donna keeps on the stereo.
