When this place debuted in Lakeview, its crown jewel was the "Mezza Bar," which went far beyond hummus and baba ghanoush to offer a Whole Foods salad bar's worth of creative vegetables and sauces. (The bright-green, jalapeño-garlic sauce called zough is a favorite.) With the opening of the shop's Loop location, owner Maher Chebaro has turned his focus to the falafel themselves: In addition to the standard chickpea version, Falafill now has a seasonal take (recently white beans and chard) and a remarkably smooth, well-seasoned curried lentil one. Never fear for the Mezza Bar: Every falafel order includes one visit to it.
