Though the shabby decor (part faux-palace-luxury, part Egyptian disco) doesn’t necessarily inspire confidence in the kitchen, everything we tried at this pan-Middle Eastern spot turned out to be delicious. Labna arrived seasoned with green onion; mugs of aromatic tea were gratis; and musakhan, a traditional Palestinian dish where thin bread is wrapped around sumac-dusted chicken and loads of sautéed red onion, was pleasantly sharp. To top it off, Habibi offers its juicy shawarma in a long soft roll, creating an entirely new but ingenious concept: the Middle Eastern hoagie.
