East Coast–style pizza joints are more common than they used to be in these parts, but expats from the land of thin crust know to approach with caution—the majority are sad imitators of the real deal. Not this Highland Park newbie. It’s like the Edens led us straight to Brooklyn, from the bubbly crusted pies made with a perfect sauce-to-cheese ratio to the slick-haired, gold chain–wearing customers folding their slices and watching the oil drip onto their paper plates. You’ll find calzones and garlic knots, too, and—pinch us, it’s like we’re dreaming—cups of Marino’s Italian ices with wooden spoons and cakelike black-and-white cookies. The owners say a city location is in the works.
