Long before Chicago’s great sushi boom, this Old Town stalwart (opened in ’67) taught us how to tell nigiri from sashimi and miso from udon. It’s still packing in the crowds: Old-timers relax at the sushi bar, funky types seriously dig the lounge upstairs, and everyone mixes together in the pretty, flower-filled garden patio out back.
