Owner Billy Lawless and chef Dirk Flanigan have a hit on their hands with this downtown gastropub. Flanigan’s food is rich and aggressively flavorful, from the giant, perfect-for-snacking Scotch egg to the Gage burger, dripping with melted onion marmalade and gobs of stinky Midwestern Camembert. Recent additions to the menu show off the best of the season in dishes like roasted Alaskan halibut plated with peaches and poached heirloom tomatoes and a grilled saddle of elk accompanied by raspberries and hand-dipped ricotta.
