Name a region of the globe, and it’s likely to be represented somewhere on the sprawling small-plates menu at this equally sprawling West Loop lounge. With a menu this varied, it’s no wonder some dishes fell by the wayside: The promised “tart” beneath a goat cheese spread turned out, oddly, to be a dinner roll; vegetarian spring rolls were slimy and basic; grilled lamb chops and burning hot papas bravas were middling successes. The single dessert on the menu—a flaky pastry tart beautifully layered with apples—suggests that if Mezé pared things down a little, dining here might not feel like such a guessing game.
