Morgan’s Bar & Grill on Maxwell St (CLOSED)

The thin-crust pizzas that earned this spot acclaim in the southern suburb of Mokena are also a draw at this newer University Village outpost, where they share menu space with homey classics like fried chicken and barbecue ribs. The grill is aimed at UIC students for lunch and the area’s new residents for dinner, with spacious windows brightening up the place during the day and a lengthy bar menu making it a drinking destination at night. Look for two dozen import drafts and signature cocktails, like the vodka-based Morgan’s Up.
