Visit Wally’s Market on a Saturday, when baskets are scarce, little old babcias spit rapid-fire orders to deli countermen and smart housewives angle for the freshest loaves of rye. There are more Polish-style housemade smoked meats and sausages here than perhaps anywhere on the North Side, plus pierogi as far as the eye can see and an amazing array of imported honeys and jams.
