Wan Shi Da (CLOSED)

While this no-frills, family-run spot offers up all manner of buns, something else caught our attention here: the sesame pork cookie. In fact, “cookie” is a bit of a misnomer for these palm-sized treats, which look something like petite pasties. Inside, their sweet, super-tender crust is shot through with cubes of smoky pork. The combination makes for a flavor and a scent so unaccustomed as to be off-putting at first, but a couple of bites in, you may well find you’re hooked.
