The Art of Shaving Barber SpaYou probably know the Art of Shaving for its well-packaged grooming goods, but did you know it’s also a brick-and-mortar downtown barbershop with aromatherapeutic twists on its services? Instead of cleaning up at home, let the pros give you a traditional shave ($35). Or up the ante to the royal version ($55), ending with an aftershave mask that’s removed with lemon essential oil–soaked sponges. 520 N Michigan Ave (312-527-1604). Mon–Sat 10am–8pm; Sun 11am–6pm.

Belmont BarbershopWith old-timey fixtures such as a marlin on the wall, vintage barber chairs and mustachioed barbers, this six-year-old Roscoe Village shop is nothing if not classic. Walk in or book an appointment for a $33 shave, using London-based brand Geo F Trumper shaving product and witch hazel for aftershave. 2328 W Belmont Ave (773-296-0894). Tue–Fri 8am–7pm; Sat 8am–3pm.

Halo [For Men] The ongoing list of specials and package deals and the convenience factor of this man-centric spa/salon (the locally owned chain has six city locations) are major perks. But watching sports on the flat-screen TVs and enjoying spalike pampering with a 45-minute hot lather shave ($50) will keep you coming back. Call to book an appointment. Locations around the city.

The Men’s Atelier at the ElysianLocated inside the men’s locker room of the Elysian’s spa and health club, the atelier is the place for fellas who enjoy the finer things in life. Among the offerings—facials, waxing and mani-pedis—the menu includes a sport shave (a 30-minute traditional shave with hot lather for $45) or the ultimate hour-long spa shave experience ($80), which includes a mini facial plus a scalp, neck and shoulder massage. 11 E Walton St (312-646-1310). Mon–Sat 5:30am–10pm; Sun 5:30am–9pm.

Winchester Club Barbers & HairdressersGlass Coca-Cola bottles, black-and-white wall art and a vintage cash register give this recently revamped hair salon–cum-barbershop (formerly known as Urban Joe) a retro feel. Walk in for a 45-minute hot lather shave ($40) on a Friday and enjoy free booze while you kick back. Better yet, you can bring your dog inside, too. 1925 W Division St (773-687-9057). Tue–Thu noon–9pm; Fri 10am–7pm; Sat 9am–6pm.
