Emerald City Theatre, one of a handful of Chicago troupes specializing in theater for children and families, this week announced its slate for its 2014–15 season at the Apollo Theater, marking the company's 19th year of programming.

In the fall and through the holiday season, Emerald City will stage two productions in repertory: The American premiere of Goldilocks and the Three Bears (October 4–January 3), by the English musical-theater team of George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, and Roald Dahl's The B.F.G. (Big Friendly Giant) (October 25–January 4), adapted for the stage by David Wood.

Two more productions will run in repertory in the first half of 2015, both Chicago premieres adapted from kids' lit. Fancy Nancy: The Musical (January 31–May 17) is adapted by Susan DiLallo and Danny Abosch from the books by Jane O'Connor. Skippyjon Jones (February 14–May 16) brings to life the daredevil animals of Judy Schachner's book, as adapted by Dave Morgan.

Emerald City will also debut a new piece for babies and toddlers at its Little Theatre. Bingo's Birthday, inspired by the farmer's dog of children's folk song fame, will engage kids ages 0–4 September 20–January 4. And as previously announced, Emerald City's Charlotte's Web will play the Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place July 9–August 17.
