Jackalope Theatre Company's new space inside Broadway Armory Park prior to buildout

Jackalope Theatre Company has announced it's becoming a resident of Broadway Armory Park, fleshing out a previously unused military garage on the Edgewater building's second floor into a wheelchair-accessible 60-seat theater space, along with a large lobby and dressing room.

Jackalope, which was Time Out Chicago's readers' choice for Best Up-and-Coming Theatre Company in 2013, has forged a partnership with the Chicago Park District, working with Armory Park supervisor Nick Bojko and 48th ward Ald. Harry Osterman.

While the company's The Killing of Michael X, which begins performances this week, had been announced as a special project in the park, we now know the park will be home to Ike Holter's Exit Strategy opening in May as well as to future shows. Jackalope will hang onto its other Edgewater space, The Frontier, with designs on becoming a fixture in the neighborhood.
