Both of 2013's Tony Award–winning musicals will hit Chicago on tour next July, Broadway in Chicago has announced.
The Tony-winning revival of Pippin will play the Cadillac Palace Theatre for just two weeks. The Stephen Schwartz musical, directed by Tony winner Diane Paulus with circus elements created by Gypsy Snider of Montreal's 7 Fingers, will run July 28–August 9, 2015. The national touring cast includes Sasha Allen as the Leading Player, Kyle Selig in the title role and Tony winner John Rubinstein, the original Pippin of 1972, as Charles.
Also announced this week was the return of Kinky Boots, which had its pre-Broadway tryout in Chicago in 2012. This will be Chicago's first look at the finished product, which won the Tonys for best musical, best choreography for Jerry Mitchell and best score for Cyndi Lauper. It struts into the Cadillac Palace ahead of Pippin, playing July 14–26, 2015.
