The Fourth of July is here again, and all the usual expressions of patriotism are underway (Hello, fireworks!). Another American tradition: stuffing ourselves silly and drinking a little more than we should on a weekday. This Fourth of July, Chicago restaurants are making it easier to celebrate with drink and dinner specials, so grab your American flag and bring your appetite to one of these spots in the city.

bellyQ Chef-owner Bill Kim is treating out-of-towners and locals looking for one last long weekend celebration with a special live cooking demo Saturday, July 6. The demo will include some of Kim’s recipes featured in the July 2013 issue of Food & Wine, including spiced shrimp with tomato salsa and avocado. Tickets to this event are limited and can be purchased online.


Bub City This country bar and restaurant will offer 50 percent off of all food for military personnel in uniform or with military ID. Everyone else can enjoy Bub City specials, such as bone-in short rib and house-smoked pastrami along with $4 cans of Budweiser.


Café Ba-Ba-Reeba This Spanish favorite will be serving its brunch menu, normally only available on the weekends, from 10am–3pm on Thursday. Dishes include eggs, brunch tapas and a variety of pintxos (bite-size tapas). Don't forget to check out the build-your-own Bloody Mary bar.


Epic Following the success of last year's "Red, White & Blue"–themed party, Epic will host its "3rd of July Rooftop Party." This year's soiree will include Strongbow Cider shots ($3), Evan Williams shots ($5), Berry Bunch cocktails ($8) and cherry barbecued baby back ribs with fries ($8).


HUB 51 This annual celebrations continues this year on July 3 and 4 with cocktail specials and brunch. Deals include $2 Miller High Lifes on Wednesday and $6 Bloodys and mimosas and brunch starting at 10am on Thursday.


Mon Ami Gabi This French bistro will be open on Independence Day and serving special classics such as braised beef short ribs and chicken grandmere.


Porkchop Celebrate the Fourth with an outdoor pig roast at this Randolph Street patio. Enjoy chicken, beef and pork sliders ($3 each) and Red Bull bourbon lemonade available in, of course, red, white and blue. Stick around for the live music beginning at 8pm.


Shaw's Crab House This Fourth of July, diners at both Chicagoland locations will enjoy a half-price oyster deal in the oyster bar all day, and from 4–6pm. Plus, the Schaumburg location will serve hand-shucked bivalves for a mere 50 cents a piece.
