Your perfect weekend
Five things to do this week | Glamorama + Ginza Holiday Fest + $15 portraits
Wed Aug 10 2011
Friday, Aug 12
Quit trying to Mad Men yourself and get an original facial likeness at Project Onward’s on-site portrait sessions. The artists of Project Onward, a Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events program that supports visual artists with mental and developmental disabilities, create first-come first-served portraits in Millennium Park for a slim $15. Path between Cloud Gate and the Pritzker Pavilion, southeast of Randolph St and Michigan Ave. 10:30am–3:30pm; $15 per portrait.
This year’s Glamorama features Broadway-esque production numbers under the theme of “artragious.” See break-dance and ballet performances, Degas- and Banksy-inspired sets and a soundtrack provided by super-stylish Cee Lo Green, live and in the flesh. And, oh yeah, you can see fashion, too, including styles by Jean Paul Gaultier, Marc Jacobs, Sonia Rykiel and others. Chicago Theatre, 175 N State St (630-623-2309). 8pm; $50–$1,000.
