At the West Loop’s Samone Spa Bar, clients order like they’re out for drinks with friends—except instead of calamari and martinis, on this menu you’ll find manicures, pedicures, facials and waxing. “Appetizers” include polish changes and nail repairs, while the most popular “cocktail” is the Straight Up manicure ($22); as a “garnish,” add nail art or a paraffin wax treatment ($10). The concept is the brainchild of executive-turned-entrepreneur Samone Rhodes—and while it might sound a bit kitschy, be assured that patrons receive fast, A+ services in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Get your girlfriends together for a spa party (no extra charge), and Samone will order in food, play your favorite tunes or pop in a DVD—all of which makes us want to linger for one more round.
