Spas in Wicker Park/Bucktown

Body & Soul Spa
The attitude of “the more, the merrier” comes to mind when perusing the range of services available here, from manis/pedis to waxing to permanent makeup. Stop time with a relaxing hot-stone or lymphatic massage or dabble in technologically advanced treatments like the LED facial, which uses LED light therapy to reenergize the skin. 1337 N Ashland Ave between Blackhawk St and Milwaukee Ave (773-276-9733). El: Blue to Division. Bus: 9 (24hrs), 56, 70. Mon–Fri 10am–8pm; Sat 9am–5pm.

Lustre Skin Boutique
This adorable spa focuses strictly on facials. Treatments feature products from Éminence, an all-natural skin-care line from Hungary. For example, sweat-clogged pores are cleansed with a Lime Stimulating Masque; sunburned skin benefits from Sour Cherry Whip Moisturizer. They all smell delicious and feel luxurious going on. 1755 N Damen Ave at Willow St (773-278-877). El: Blue to Damen. Bus: 50, 56, 72. Tue–Thu 10am–8pm; Fri 2–6pm; Sat 10am–4pm.

Michael Anthony Salon and Spa
This Michael Anthony outpost is luxuriously calm despite its strip-mall location. Downstairs from the hair salon is the tranquil spa offering massages, facials and hand/foot care. Best of all, the shower room comes complete with jet streams and fragrant Aveda products galore. 2038 W Division St between Damen Ave and Hoyne Aves (773-772-0707). El: Blue to Damen. Bus: 50 Damen, 70 Division.Tue–Thu 1–9pm; Fri 11am–7pm; Sat 9am–6pm; Sun 9:45am–5pm.

Mojo Spa

Mojo Spa
If we ever create our own spa, we want it to look exactly like Mojo’s—pink everywhere, princess-worthy manicure chairs and natural products galore. Tear yourself away from the retail at the front and head back for a superpampered mani and pedi. Our hands smelled so good afterward that the person sitting next to us at a concert later in the evening commented on it. Come on Sundays for homemade brunch, which is complimentary with any service. 1468 N Milwaukee Ave between Evergreen Ave and Honore St (773-235-6656). El: Blue to Damen. Bus: 50, 56, 72. Tue–Fri noon–8pm; Sat 10am–8pm; Sun 10am–6pm.

The Pain Stop Massage Therapy
The masseuses here don’t speak much English, but they know the key words to get the job done: pain and where. At this antispa, you can soothe your aches with massage, reflexology and cupping, but don’t expect plush robes, heated massage beds or a Zen-like waiting area. Instead, the aestheticians quickly assess your ailment (they can work on anything from muscle aches to stress), and put you in a spartan treatment room. 1326 N Milwaukee Ave between Paulina St and Hermitage Ave (773-342-2081). El: Blue to Damen. Bus: 50, 56, 72. Mon–Sat 10am–8pm; Sun 11am–7pm.

Ruby Room
It’s a healing sanctuary, a spa, an elixir bar, a yoga studio, a crystal bar, a hair salon, a meditation studio, an educational laboratory, an apothecary and a makeup-to-lifestyle-products retail space all rolled into one 10,000-square-foot space. Besides its size, the biggest difference between Ruby Room and most other spas is that its treatments skew more to your energetic system with such offerings as intuitive-energy healing, chakra cleansing, crystal-energy healing and astrology. 1743-1745 W Division St between Hermitage Ave and Wood St (773-235-2323). El: Blue to Division. Bus: 9 Ashland (24hrs), 70 Division. Mon–Fri 10am–7pm; Sat 9am–7pm; Sun 10am–6pm.

Salon Moka
Japanese pictures, prints and decorations are plastered on the walls, stemming from the owner’s Japanese heritage (he moved to Chicago more than 20 years ago from Tokyo), making the otherwise bare-bones salon and spa a little more Zen. Treatments range from reflexology to the Hot Moka Melt, which uses warm basalt stones to relax tense areas of the body. 1259 N Milwaukee Ave between Paulina and Division Sts (773-292-4100). El: Blue to Damen. Bus: 56, 70, 72. Tue–Fri 10am–7pm; Sat 10am–6pm.

Trim

Spa Soak
If hoity-toity spas rub you the wrong way, this low-key alternative may be for you. Housed in a remodeled vintage apartment, the space is more akin to a relaxing holistic home than a clinic. Choose from basic services such as manicures and facials, or go for a reiki treatment or seaweed body facial. 1733 N Milwaukee Ave at Wabansia Ave (773-395-9000). El: Blue to Damen. Bus: 50, 56, 72. Sun, Mon 10am–4pm; Tue, Thu 9am–7pm; Fri, Sat 9am–6pm.

Trim
If there were such a thing as a pain-free Brazilian wax, you’d find it here. Alas, no such thing exists, but Trim comes pretty damn close. Before mercilessly ripping out your hair, the aestheticians rub oil on your skin, softening it prior to waxing. It makes the difference between a hair-raising nightmare and a painful but manageable treatment. The spa offers a multitude of hair-removal services, from full face threading to back waxing. Brides-to-be can even ask for “I Do” to get their hoo-has bedazzled. Sparkle isn’t reserved for just the ring finger anymore. 1629 N Milwaukee Ave between North and Damen Aves (773-276-8746). El: Blue to Damen. Bus: 50, 56, 72. Mon–Fri 9am–9pm; Sat 9am–6pm; Sun 10am–6pm.
