Cou Huo Art Event in a Tent
Look for the inflated golden tent around Beijing this month
Beijing-based curator Chen Xinpeng curates a temporary exhibition that travels to different locations in Beijing on weekends in October. The specially commissioned works (including installations, sculptures, and video works) reflect the theme of cou huo ("makeshift" or "to make do"), an essential element of working in China today. According to the press release, "although one is often concerned about the quality sacrificed for speed and accomplishment, cou huo is about action, and it leaves room for self-improvement."
Participating artists include Rutherford Chang (Beijing, China), Erica Eyres (Glasgow, Scotland), Johnston Foster (Virginia, USA), Brian Fridge (Texas, USA), Catherine Lauw (Vienna, Austria), Liang Shuo (Beijing, China), Alfredo Martinez (Beijing, China/New York, USA), Nicoykatiushka (Santiago, Chile), Ana Roldan (Zurich, Switzerland), Shao Kang (Beijing, China), Courtney Tramposh (New York, USA), Yang Chunlin (Beijing, China), Michael Yuen (Beijing, China/Adelaide, Australia), and Michael Zheng (San Francisco, USA).
