Sustainable Planning for Beijing Rural Communities

This exhibition runs Oct. 18-Dec. 8

Studio X Beijing and Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation present this exhibition about rural planning and development, based on research conducted in Shunyi and led by Tsinghua University and Beijing Municipal Commission of Urban Planning.

According to the press release, "rural construction has long been one of China’s main concerns, where 'building a new socialist rural area' is the major task in the process of its modernization. However, attention has only been paid to rural planning in China for a few years, and many issues are being gradually exposed. Such matter, in terms of how to merge the existing planning and design of rural development, with the demands and the strength of working class, is the focus of planners’ and architects’ research in this field."

Studio X, Fangjia Hutong 46, Dongcheng District (south of Guozijian) (13811738783). 东城区 方家胡同46号. (国子监以南). Oct. 18-Dec. 8, 10am-5pm daily. Free.
