Great Wall Bloody Mary
Weird brew - A Bloody Mary with Tsingdao?! Be pleasantly surprised
The Bloody Mary – powering people through hangovers since 1934 – was invented by Fernand Petiot, who popularised the drink while working as the head bartender at The Saint Regis in New York.
To highlight the great cocktail’s history, The Saint Regis group of hotels has a different Bloody Mary for each of its locations; Beijing’s own unique version of the drink is the Great Wall Bloody Mary.
While the idea of mixing beer and tomato juice may sound disgusting, the finished product is surprisingly very good.
The deep red drink sparkles in the mouth as your tongue wraps itself round the differing sensations – the fizz of the beer and the spiciness of the Bloody Mary mix combine to create a tangy blast of refreshing energy.
Ingredients: freshly squeezed lemon juice, tomato juice, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco sauce, black pepper, cayenne pepper, celery salt, black peppercorns (the signature Bloody Mary mix). Mix with half glass of Tsingtao draught and ice, garnish with a lime slice.
