The booze hound
Sanlitun's still thriving
Sanlitun seems to be thriving at the moment. If it’s not organised boxing/ cage fighting going on behind the BBQ stands outside Kokomo (true story, we saw it happen) it’s new openings galore.
Brand new dive bar 9.9 has stolen the logo from 3.3 and the vision loosening 10 kuai drinks from its other one room neighbours.
Opening in a spot formerly occupied by one of the Pure Girls, it’s bound to be another beacon to the cash-strapped Shunyi tweens that clog up the sidewalks in Sanlitun and behave in a manner soraucous they make English football fans look like Buddhist monks.
We have no idea why there’s so many of them these days, but the sight of young people having that much fun truly sickens us. When you’re craving a burrito in Sanlitun, perhaps to top off a classy night of fine wine and philosophical conversation, you might feel like you don’t have enough choice.
Sure, you could get one from the Saddle Cantina, Side Saddle, Luga’s, Luga’s Villa or The Rickshaw, but what if you wanted a different burrito?
Matter of fact, answering your prayers is Burrito, opened next to Luga’s and serving basically the same stuff for 5RMB cheaper.
Apart from primarily offering a type of food that is available everywhere you look, Burrito have also taken up the space that used to be occupied by the wonderful tandoori chuan’r stand, that sadly looks like it wont be returning.
Keep a look out next month for the opening of D Lounge in the same Sanlitun enclave that houses Tun and Salsa Caribe.
The fantastic highceilinged bar has the best interior in the area, and is tentatively scheduled to open on the 15th, from the same group that opened Jazz Ya.
