Jacky's Cafe

The horror of trudging round Yashow Market is something every Beijinger has had to endure at some point, so the new Jacky’s Cafe that’s opened beside this commercial cesspit will come as a welcome respite to weary shoppers after a hard bargaining session. The menu contains standard American fare like burgers, pizza and sandwiches, while the drinks menu offers up beer, soft drinks and a selection of coffees. Moderate pricing means that the 10RMB discount you just spent 40 fatuous minutes haggling over can be put to good use on a cold Tsingtao to be sipped on the terrace – an oasis of calm replete with real grass on top of a raised wooden veranda and a tree growing through the middle. Owner Jacky is not only friendly but experienced – besides opening this bar he also spends his time working as a manager at Bar Blu.
