Kaifeng Diyi Lou

Kaifeng Diyi Lou specialises in guantang baozi, steamed buns, which originate from the city of Kaifeng, capital of Henan province. Housed in a two-storey building where bright fluorescent lighting gives the appearance of a typical state-owned restaurant, it is never going to win prizes for decor. Instead concentrate on the buns, which are served in a stack of bamboo steamers and dirt cheap. They come in pork filling (chuantong), vegetarian (su xian’r) or a combination of meat and seafood (sanxian).
