Anping Gujie

Anping Gujie offers the cuisine of Tainan, a small port city in southern Taiwan. Hakka and Taiwanese dishes are integral elements of the menu here: oa jian, a Taiwanese traditional oyster omelette dished up in night markets around Taiwan, caipu dan, a Hakka turnip omelet, and kejia xiaochao, stir-fried celery with squid. Garlic soup (suantou ji) is Anping’s signature dish. The aroma alone is enticing, and the broth profoundly subtle in flavour. Sanbei doufu, or three-cup tofu, seasoned garlic and basil is one of the best mains, while homemade caramelised pineapple topped with shaved ice makes a sweet and refreshing end to a meal.
