Hot Loft
Hot Loft has dragged the bubbling hotpot into the 21st century by increasing the range of soup bases – the menu features everything from a sour and spicy Thai broth to a duck-based broth – and introducing a variety of novel dipping sauces. The set meal at RMB 56 includes the standard hotpot accompaniment: a choice of beef or lamb, a mixture of vegetables, pork or beef meatballs, and a dipping sauce. We love the beef: it is sirloin cut and truly excellent; paper-thin, it cooks instantly in the bubbling broth. Sleek and stylish, the Hot Loft is probably the most comfortable place to eat hotpot in the city. Just getting inside the restaurant is a little tricky. Place your hand above the a pot which functions as like a bar-code reader. When you break the beam of light, the door will open just like in an Indiana Jones movie.
