Hip concept store SOURCE has finally landed at the ultra glitzy (if somewhat empty) new World City shopping mall adjacent to The Place.

Prepare to savour the Wu Tang Clan’s back catalogue, drop one leg slightly lower than the other and bop your head as you admire all the shiny urban labels on display.

Founded in 2006 in Shanghai, SOURCE styles itself as a store and gallery space, and promises to host music events, film screenings, interactive discussions and product launches, all while being the only stockist of some of the most hip London, New York and Tokyo streetwear we’ve never heard of.

Their grand opening gathered together a number of international designers to provide limited edition items that will be exclusive to Beijing. One notable mention is the pair of Supremebeing/ SOURCE gold and white embroidered pumps (2,499RMB).

Comprising of two floors and a shoe tower to rival Lane Crawford’s,the shop boasts everything from Sass and Bide Givenchyesque tasselled shirts (1,198RMB) and PVC rat pants (1,698RMB) to an extensive variety of Cheap Monday jeans (from 598RMB) and Ksubi sunglasses (2,000RMB), as worn by Kanye West and M.I.A.

We particularly love Something Else’s sequin shorts (898RMB), and the ’80s inspired howling wolf T-shirts (1,098RMB). And for the men, the Supremebeing hooded leather jacket (1,498RMB), Insight lumberjack shirts (498RMB) and Painter desert boots (1,298RMB) will impress those who matter.

It’s all about detailing, even down to the Aeriel headphones which come emblazoned with tanks or matadors, depending on your country of origin. Alice McInerney
