Why is it that the women managing some local boutiques act as though they are running the Gucci store on London’s King’s Road? Sadly we’ve come to expect that fashionable shops in exclusive locations will be staffed by pushy, stuck up individuals who believe they are superior to the people they serve, but not if it’s a Dalian designer’s boutique in Jinawai SOHO. Even worse, when the shop they are manning boasts only a smattering of decent garments – in this case laidback shirt dresses (1,600RMB); layer-able summer tops (from 980RMB) and hefty, super-soft brown leather holdalls (3,980RMB). The rest is an unimaginative blend of too-big linen garments that certainly don’t deserve the status the shop clearly believes it deserves.
