Laoshe Teahouse

Although something of a tourist trap, Laoshe Teahouse is worth popping into for a cup of tea and to catch a performance of one of the classic Chinese arts. The massive 2,600sq m (28,000sq ft) teahouse is decked out old-Beijing-style, and aims to give visitors a taste of ‘real Beijing’ by serving snacks of the type Qing Dynasty patrons would have munched on. Tea comes with a performance of various folk arts, dramas and musicals – prices rise for evening shows. There are also daily performances of Peking Opera, drama and acrobatics, with other high profile events held at the venue on occasion.
