"A good film in the indie mould. Such films-like Pieces of Eight and Garden State-seem to provide a safety-valve to the Hollywood machine hinting of another
world. They seem to live in the slipstream of failure, but switch on to a current of humanity. The leading actors- Kinnear, Colette, Arkin and Carell have good
track records and all realize their roles superbly, while the young actress does this year’s version of Napoleon Dynamite. The true hero is the VW van: it becomes
the stage set and dramatic frame. There is a wonderful image of them all having to get out to push to get it started and running like mad to jump in. If you like this check
out Junebug and Thumbsucker."
