"It is fairly amazing, and disappointing, that this fine film from 1984 (produced in 1983) is still not available on a proper dvd remaster. In fact, there is very little available on the internet regarding this fun, stylish, entertaining movie. Tom Selleck fans can be proud of this R-rated gem, produced while he was probably the most popular actor in the U.S.. His first "post Magnum P.I." film, "High Road To China", had been moderately successful; LASSITER, released less than a year later, reaffirmed his worth as a major talent worth watching.
Jane Seymour, as well, never looked better, in one of her best "post James Bond girl" roles ever. Lauren Hutton, Bob Hoskins, Ed Lauter, and several others are outstanding as well. It is a shame, really, considering how many sub-par titles have been transferred to dvd and Blu-Ray disc, that as of early 2008, this great and fairly significant film has yet to see the light of day it deserves on home video."
