"Ballroom dancing to live music and period records happens on the first Thursday evening of every month in Colliers Wood at GJs bar in SW19 2BY.There's a decent wooden dance floor and natural ventilation from the French windows that lead out onto the beer garden. Dances are done in fifteen minute blocks, and all dances are preceeded by five minutes of instruction to remind beginners of the basic steps.Glamorous dress is encouraged, black tie for men preferred. Couples and singles (especially men ) are welcome as are same sex couples. The age group is mixed. We try to make this monthly event fun and to play decent and interesting music, some easy to dance to, some more difficult. Dances include slow waltz, foxtrot, tango, quickstep, rumba, jive, samba and smooch. This event has happened every month since July, and the numbers have been steadily growing. Entrance is only £5 which includes one free alcoholic drink. More info can be had from Tony on 8542 2977 or e mail me,
