"There are two reasons why it is so difficult to get a decent espresso in London these days: 1 Most people who live here these days don't know what one tastes like and 2 There are pretentious tossers such as Charmain Mok writing complete and utter rubbish about both coffee and the places that serve it. Still, pretentiousness is a long established Time Out tradition and it seems to be dying out elsewhere in the mag these days so I suppose we should be grateful. The result? Large numbers of places that are either chains or trendoid ego strokers ('come here and you're really cool'). Meanwhil plaves like Bar Italia get away with murder"
