"Great old style (1970s) gritty realism. Not sure this film will be seen by many though as today's superficial world demands laughter, sex and violence. Here there is mainly depression and sadness. The ad hoc acting directly on the estate is wonderful, and the person playing the the mother is superb. Humanity at it's lowest, sadist and most despicable is revealed in this true story. It would have been much more powerful as a play,as the cinematic lowers the dramatic tension. Worth seeing, but you will need a double scotch straight after to recover."
