"Walworth rd is a hidden gem. vibrant, energetic real-london experience. It has been recently upgraded and looks great, with priority to pedestrians rather than cars, tree planting and attractive areas for people to come and shop which won a UK Design Award last year from 'Living Streets'. See: http://www.livingstreets.org.uk/news/uk/-/southwark-crowned-best-local-authority-at-living-streets-awards There is a whole range of shops from typical high st brands like M&S, Boots, Holland barrett, etc as well as one-of-a-kind places of excellence such as Flints www.flints.co.uk, or the cuming museum http://www.southwark.gov.uk/info/200162/the_cuming_museum. It is a very well balanced, thriving high st with a lively market at East St several days a week. There are massive changes currently going on at the top of walworth road as part of major improvements and regeneration in and around Elephant and Castle (£1.5billion committed funds). Changes at the bottom of Walworth Rd also are of great pride with burgess park, new schools by top architects at faraday and surrey square as well as new buildings at Aylesbury (£1.5billion committed funds).
