"This is one of those films that people are either going to love or hate. Unfortunately, I'm in between. On one hand you've got a film chock full of stark, interesting images coupled with a score that sets one on edge. On the other hand, you've got a film where there are no real characters to speak of, and because of that, they're free to do truly inexplicable acts of violence that leaves one scratching their head wondering what the hell just happened. Although there is some interesting commentary on the consequences of ethnocentricity and what happens when you push your religion on people who don't care to receive it, this film just really doesn't explore it to its logical end. On artistic merit, the film is severely flawed, but for its technical merit, this film succeeds."
