London Mayor Poll
The election for London Mayor on May 1 is the most important political event the capital will see this year. The winner will have a huge array of powers over transport, planning, policing and economic development which will affect your life in London for the next four years – and beyond.
In addition to voting for Mayor on May 1, Londoners will also be asked to vote for London Assembly members, whose job it is to scrutinise the Mayor, passing his annual budget and providing key members of his administration such as the deputy Mayor. This year, it is imperative there is a high voter turnout as there is a real chance the BNP will gain a seat on the London Assembly – which can be won with just five per cent of the vote.
To vote in the election you must be registered to vote by April 16. For details of how to register see: www.londonelects.org.uk.
