Choirokitia review Rate it

This fascinating and remarkably well-preserved UNESCO World Heritage site dates from around 6,800BC and is thought to be one of the earliest permanent human settlements in Cyprus. The characteristic round houses were built on a site 2m higher than the surrounding area and could be reached by a stairway that wound for 180m around the compound. Five model dwellings reconstructed with copies of objects found on the site give an idea of everyday life in this civilisation, which disappeared suddenly in the fourth millennium BC.
