Ancient Amathus review Rate it

Dating back to 1100 BC, Amathus came to be one of the most significant city-kingdoms of Cyprus in antiquity. Myth has it that Theseus left the pregnant Ariadne here to be cared for after his battle with the minotaur. Today, you can peruse the ruins of Hellenistic and Roman baths, walk across the stones of the agora between tall carved pillars or peer down at the ancient sunken harbour.
