Yet another UNESCO-listed church, Stavros tou Agiasmatiholds the most complete cycle of late 15th-century mural paintings on the island, painted in 1494 by the celebrated Philip Goul. The artist, of Syrian background, lends particular interest to the churches he put his signature to as he pioneered a Cypriot School of painting which merged classic Paleologean styles with iconographic elements of Italian art. The whole interior of the church is awash with New Testament imagery and figures, including the beams which support the roof. Some exterior murals also survive on the west and south walls.
