This is one of the island's most important archaeological sites, and it's hard to decide which is more impressive: the Greco-Roman amphitheatre perched on the clifftop, or the view it provides. Constructed in the second century BC, the theatre has undergone extensive renovation in recent years - mostly to protect the spectacular floor mosaics that were previously exposed to the elements. During the summer, Kourion (or Curium) is used for its original purpose of staging arts performances. Any production, be it music, theatre, dance or ancient drama, takes on a new dimension at this stunning venue. Bring a cushion to alleviate the effects of the stone seating - though minor discomfort is a small price to pay for such a tremendous experience.
