Way off the beaten track, Kavanagh's is a Dublin institution and thus, for many, worth the trek. Owing to its location next door to Glasnevin cemetery, this famous boozer is better known as 'The Gravediggers'. It has hardly changed in its 150-year history, and one of its chief attractions is that you can bring your pints out to the square on sunny days. Loved by many (ask Brad Pitt) for its spit-and-sawdust simplicity, it can be a little hard to find (a taxi from O'Connell Street is probably your best bet) but most definitely worth the effort.
