One of the city's oldest and largest theatres by day and a mega club by night, this big, Victorian place has several spaces for bands, DJs and films. There are lots of bars, and the warren-like structure of this beautiful old building means you almost need a map (or at least a local guide) to find your way around. The Gaiety is a particularly good destination for fans of Latin and jazz, or indeed for an older crowd.
