The Gaiety is a lovely Victorian chocolate box-style theatre that hosts the Christmas pantos and the spring opera season. It also caters for classic Irish plays and West End shows during the Dublin Theatre Festival. But the problem for many Dubliners is that, having been brought up going to the Gaiety's panto every Christmas, it becomes increasingly difficult to take any of their other productions seriously - 'Oh no, he didn't!' you want to shout as soon as you settle into those velvet seats, never mind that it's Hamlet's ghost on stage…
