The Carluccio's formula is probably well-known to most lovers of good-quality and affordably priced regional Italian food, so it needs little introduction, other than to say that this, the first branch to open outside of England, is an absolute corker. A small but perfectly stocked deli acts as a foyer to the smart two-tier café (OK, fine, caffè), where you'll find everything from richly seductive coffee and all manner of cakes and breads to full-blown pasta dishes (tortellini filled with braised venison, say), Italian main courses (chargrilled lamb chops with peppers or maybe fegato e patate) and various specials. Wines, cans of San Pellegrino juice drinks and beers are on standby to wash it all down.
