The barista in question is Buzz Fendall, a man on a mission to 'bring amazing coffee to Dublin'. And it is a mission that is accomplished on a daily basis at this busy, friendly café on Aungier Street. The making and serving of coffee here (which is done either by Buzz Fendall himself or by one of his personally trained protégés) is approached with a kind of gleefully pedantic zeal, and the results are sublime. Beans are sourced directly from individual farmers in carefully selected locations from around the globe (currently in Brazil, Sumatra and Ethiopia) and are freshly ground on site. Of course, there's more to the place than just coffee - snacks and more substantial dishes are on offer on the slickly appointed mezzanine dining area or on the diminutive terrace - but there's no denying the fact that the roaring takeaway trade and the permanently full house boils down to one thing and one thing only: the Bald Barista serves the best in Dublin.
