Fifteen minutes outside the city centre is the goliath of Dublin shopping malls, the Dundrum Town Centre. This pristine place is an unashamed temple to consumerism and gets packed out with hungry suburban shoppers at weekends. Midweek it's much quieter and more pleasant, although you'd still need a good few hours to scout it out. As well as the usual range of well-known chain stores, there's a dinky but disappointing boutique branch of Harvey Nichols and a decent-sized House of Fraser. Hamley's, the famous toy store, opened across three floors in 2008. There are several cafés and restaurants, as well as a cinema.
