Avoca is always ferociously busy at the weekends, but it's worth braving the crowds: this is one of the best-loved stores in town for a reason. As well as a good selection of clothing, the three-floor store bursts at the seams with pretty jewellery, unusual and wacky gifts (dog lead with built-in torch, anyone?), cute children's clothing and a good selection of non-fiction books (notably the range of cookbooks from its famous County Wicklow café). Downstairs you'll find a small café and deli with delectable breads and tempting cakes. There are branches throughout Ireland (and even one in the States) but this is the sole outlet in Dublin.
