Open-air cinemas here start up in June and wind down by September. The programme, of course, depends on the weather, but you can count on regular showings of subtitled Croatian and recent international films through July and August. Here at the long established Jadran in the heart of the Old Town, the setting is atmospheric, and quaint to the point of antiquated, from the projecting equipment to the 300 old wooden seats. Cinema staff hand out cushions to visitors as they enter. Screenings take place in the early evening, allowing filmgoers to take advantage of the city-centre location after the show.
